To Love and Cherish by Tracie Peterson and Judith Miller ISBN 978-0-7642-0887-4 Bethany House

To Love and Cherish, by Tracie Peterson and Judith Miller, opens in May of 1898 on Bridal Veil Island, Georgia where Melinda Colson’s wealthy employers have a summer cottage. Melinda’s deceased parents were once members of Cleveland society, but they lost their fortune and Melinda now works as a lady’s maid to an arrogant and demanding woman. She has fallen in love with Evan who works as the island’s gamekeeper. They have acknowledged their love for one another and Melinda expects Evan to propose before she returns to Cleveland. But, he doesn’t and she returns to Cleveland deeply upset. Then she learns that a destructive storm struck Bridal Veil Island and her concern for Evan’s well being prompts her to quit her job and to leave for the island.
Once Melinda reaches the island her life changes dramatically. Even though Evan is safe and happy to see her, he is not willing to set a wedding date. She has no where else to go and she carves out a new life for herself as she faces an uncertain future with the man she loves.

The authors have crafted an appealing novel. The story is well told , interesting and the plot is intricate enough to keep the readers guessing. The authors bring to the readers believable characters who show strength and resilience. This is a book well worth reading.

I received this book free from Bethany House and I give this review of my own free will.
